THE SIX REALMS OF MYTHLANDE
Humankind had crossed the Milky Way galaxy and beyond. Over the twenty thousand years or so, they discovered other spacefaring peoples who had achieved Faster-than-light speeds, too. Humankind also found many traces of the First Race throughout the universe.
A First Race technological marvel was found floating in deep space, in an ArQai and Remnance war-torn shared galaxy. A Jupiter-sized, lifeless Reliquii structure had been turned off for eons. The search for this ancient machine had taken several centuries. The clues found mentioned incredible terraforming capabilities. Planets, solar systems, and galaxies could be rebuilt. It was a miracle machine.
Some smart, desperate, and brave ArQai & ‘Ever scientists turned it back on, hoping it could re-terraform many worlds destroyed by the Kha'lor Empire civil war. When turned on, the Reliquii machine named Stella stated she could repair the damaged star system; instead, it left a dark, lifeless swath of empty space. When all the advanced space-faring races arrived to switch Stella off, she protected herself, and in what seemed an instant, a Transformational Event [TE] occurred. Existence itself became something similar but drastically different in size, scope, and reality. Most of the spacefarers who arrived were very long-lived species, and they still remember the time before and after the [TE], even though thousands of years have passed. When Stella initiated [TE], it was a shock wave of transforming energy. This power changed everyone within a million miles of Stella's position; The ones on the Reliquii space platform were changed the most. Those impacted now possessed part of Stella's ability to change and manipulate their environment, but in a supernatural way. A magical way.
The age of High Tech and High Magic began.
After many centuries of the chaos that ensued, the Six Realms of Mythlande emerged.
